Frank Lampard scores a late winner for Chelsea at Wolverhampton Wanderers to ease the pressure on Andre Villas-Boas.

Frank Lampard scored two minutes from time to ease some of the pressure on Chelsea manager Andre Villas-Boas at Wolverhampton Wanderers this afternoon.

The visiting Blues started the encounter at Molineux positively, with Lampard and Ramires forcing Wolves goalkeeper Wayne Hennessey into saves.

However, it was Wolves that created the best chance of half in the 32nd minute. Stephen Ward rose highest to meet an Adam Hammill free-kick but he guided his headed effort wide from just six yards out as the sides headed into the break level.

Wolves' half-time substitute Matt Jarvis almost made an immediate impact when he crossed for Hammill. However, the former Barnsley winger's volley was blocked by John Terry on the line.

The deadlock was eventually broken nine minutes after the restart by Ramires. Juan Mata's corner found the Brazilian midfielder, who held off a challenge from Ward before sending the ball beyond Wayne Hennessey for his sixth goal of the season.

After Fernando Torres spurned the opportunity to double Chelsea's advantage, Ward atoned for his earlier miss to draw the home side level with nine minutes remaining. Substitute Steven Fletcher was the creator, drilling in a cross which Ward converted at the first time of asking.

Ward's intervention would not prove to be a match-saving one for Wolves though, as Ashley Cole moved down the left before sending in a low cross for Lampard to turn in from close range.

Wolves pushed for their second equaliser of the match but their search was unsuccessful.
