Sports Mole looks at three signings that Barcelona could make before the end of the summer transfer window.

Barcelona have been active during this summer's transfer window despite their financial issues, with Andreas Christensen, Franck Kessie, Raphinha, Robert Lewandowski and Jules Kounde arriving at the club.

However, the Catalan outfit are still working on new additions before the end of the window, with a number of players being linked with switches to Camp Nou.

Barcelona were held to a goalless draw by Rayo Vallecano on the opening weekend of the new 2022-23 campaign, and head coach Xavi is still looking for more players to complete his squad for the season.

With that in mind, Sports Mole looks at three signings that the La Liga giants could make before the summer transfer window closes for business.

Bernardo Silva (Manchester City)

Barcelona are believed to be desperate to sign Bernardo Silva before the end of the window, allegedly viewing him as the ideal player to complete their attack for the 2022-23 season.

The Portugal international is thought to be keen to leave the Citizens this summer for personal reasons, and he would surely relish the opportunity to represent the Catalan giants.

According to The Athletic, Man City would want £84m for Bernardo, which makes a deal incredibly difficult, unless the La Liga side are able to sell a number of players, including Frenkie de Jong, before the deadline.

The 28-year-old has been a vital player for the English champions since arriving from Monaco in 2017, and the Citizens remain determined to keep hold of him.

Bernardo has only been a substitute in both of his side's Premier League matches this season, though, and the club are believed to be preparing for the possibility that he leaves before the deadline.

The deal is a complicated one due to the finances that will be involved, but it is certainly not impossible to imagine Barcelona securing his signature at a late stage of the window.

Marcos Alonso (Chelsea)

Unless something breaks down at the final moment, Barcelona are widely expected to bring Marcos Alonso to the club from Chelsea before the end of the window.

The Catalan outfit have identified the Spain international as the ideal player to provide both competition and back-up for Jordi Alba at left-back during the 2022-23 campaign.

Alonso's contract at Stamford Bridge is due to expire next summer, and it is believed that a price in the region of €10m (£8.4m) has been agreed between the two clubs.

The defender has made 211 appearances for the Blues since his arrival from Fiorentina in 2016, contributing 29 goals and 23 assists in the process during a successful spell.

"On paper, I have a contract for one more year and that is where we're at today. I've already said that I would like to play in Spain again, but it doesn't depend entirely on me," Alonso recently told reporters when questioned on the speculation surrounding his future.

The 31-year-old was a regular for Thomas Tuchel's side during the 2021-22 campaign, featuring on 46 occasions in all competitions, but he has not been involved in the early stages of this season amid the speculation surrounding his future.

Thomas Meunier (Borussia Dortmund)

Barcelona want to bring a new right-back to the club before the end of the transfer window, with Sergino Dest potentially moving on over the next couple of weeks.

The Catalan giants are currently short of options in that area of the field, and Sport recently claimed that Thomas Meunier had been identified by the club as their leading defensive target.

The 30-year-old represented Paris Saint-Germain between 2016 and 2020 before making the move to Borussia Dortmund, turning out for the German outfit on 62 occasions in all competitions.

Barcelona would allegedly be willing to pay €10m (£8.4m) for the Belgium international, who won three Ligue 1 titles and reached the Champions League final during his time at PSG.

Dortmund are believed to be prepared to let the defender leave for the right price this summer, and the player is said to be keen to make the move to Camp Nou.

However, a recent report claimed that Manchester United duo Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Diogo Dalot, Villarreal's Juan Foyth and Bayer Leverkusen's Jeremie Frimpong were also being considered. body check tags ::
