Atletico Madrid are reportedly in talks with Chelsea over a potential January loan deal for Marcos Alonso.
The left-back has not featured for Chelsea since starting the opening three Premier League matches of this season and has fallen down the pecking order under manager Frank Lampard, who has preferred both Ben Chilwell and Emerson Palmieri.
The Independent reports that Diego Simeone is keen on recruiting an attacking left-back next month as he has often employed a five-at-the-back formation this season.
Atletico have used both Renan Lodi and Yannick Carrasco as left-sided full-backs this campaign, but Simeone would prefer a more natural wing-back and considers the Spaniard as a well-suited option in that position.
Los Rojiblancos, who currently sit joint-top of the La Liga table, believe that they can convince the 30-year-old to join the club in January as he is seeking regular first-team action.
Alonso, who was born in Madrid, came through the youth system at rivals Real Madrid, but only made one first-team appearance for the club in 2010 before signing for Owen Coyle's Bolton Wanderers later that year.
