Chelsea's Cesar Azpilicueta says that Cesc Fabregas would be a welcome addition to the team should he decide to leave Barcelona this summer.

Chelsea full-back Cesar Azpilicueta believes that Cesc Fabregas would give the team something "special" should he leave Barcelona for Stamford Bridge this summer.

The Catalan giants are believed to be open to offers for the Spaniard, who moved to Camp Nou from Arsenal back in 2011.

Manchester United were linked with a move for the midfielder last summer under ex-manager David Moyes, while Arsenal have reportedly rejected the chance to re-sign their former captain.

Widespread reports have claimed that Chelsea are in the driving seat to seal a £27m transfer for Fabregas, and manager Jose Mourinho has fuelled speculation by admitting that he is "interested" in the player.

Fabregas's fellow countryman Azpilicueta told the Daily Star: "I know him from playing by his side. He's a great midfielder with a lot of experience of the Premier League and great players are always welcome.

"He's a special player - very few teams have players like him. His figures are there to see and he adapts well to various positions. At Chelsea right now there is nobody like him."

Meanwhile, reports have claimed that Atletico Madrid striker Diego Costa has completed a medical this week ahead of a £32m move to Chelsea.
