Chelsea 'agree deal for Atletico Madrid's Saul Niguez'

Chelsea reportedly agree a loan deal with Atletico Madrid for Saul Niguez, whose temporary move will cost the Blues €5m (£4.3m)

Chelsea have reportedly struck a deal with Atletico Madrid to sign Spanish midfielder Saul Niguez on loan.

The 26-year-old was supposedly told earlier this summer that he was free to leave the Wanda Metropolitano after struggling to nail down a regular starting place under Diego Simeone last term.

Conflicting reports over Chelsea's interest came out earlier on deadline day, with the Blues supposedly reigniting their interest a few hours ago after initially giving up hope of a deal.

Now, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reports that Chelsea and Atletico have now reached an agreement over a loan move, with Thomas Tuchel's side paying €5m (£4.3m) to get a deal done.

Romano adds that personal terms have already been agreed between the two parties, and Saul will soon touch down in London to put pen to paper on a deal.

The Spain international claimed one assist from three La Liga appearances in the early stages of the 2021-22 season before agreeing to sign for the Champions League holders on a temporary basis.
