Chelsea are reportedly confident about securing the transfer of Napoli's Victor Osimhen, but they may have to wait until next summer to sign him.
The 24-year-old striker had an impressive season last term and played a pivotal role in helping Napoli bring an end to their 33-year wait for the Serie A title.
Osimhen netted 26 goals in 32 league appearances last season and has carried that form into the current campaign with another six goals in 10 games.
The Standard reports that Osimhen is open to a move to Chelsea, though it is suggested that The Blues might need to wait until next summer to secure his signing.
The report adds that Napoli value the striker at over £100m, and the club's president, Aurelio De Laurentiis, is deemed unlikely to consider selling him in the January transfer window.
The Parthenopeans sacked manager Rudi Garcia and replaced him with Walter Mazzarri on Tuesday, and De Laurentiis envisions Osimhen playing a pivotal role in leading the team's revival under the new coach.
It is believed that Chelsea are still deliberating on whether to make a move for a new striker in January, and a decision on their course of action is expected to be finalised in December, with the club keeping all options open.
During the summer transfer window, the Nigerian international was linked with several of Europe's top clubs, with Manchester United among those that were reportedly pursuing his signature.
