Chelsea are reportedly ready to make a strong attempt at securing the signing of Atletico Madrid striker Diego Costa before the start of the World Cup.
The 25-year-old has helped his side challenge for the La Liga title and progress through to the quarter-finals of the Champions League with 28 goals during the current campaign.
According to The Metro, Costa's sustained form over the course of the season has convinced Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho that the Spanish international is the man to lead Chelsea's attack next season after the inconsistency of Samuel Eto'o and Fernando Torres.
Reports have linked Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain with a move for Costa, but Chelsea are expected to move quickly in their attempts to wrap up a deal before the forward's expected appearance in Brazil with his national team.
