Chelsea forward Kai Havertz has suggested that he is open to making a transfer to Bayern Munich in the future.

When leaving Bayer Leverkusen in 2020, Havertz allegedly had the opportunity to move to the Allianz Arena to bolster their already-impressive attack.

Instead, Havertz made the switch to Chelsea, where he famously scoring the winning goal as the Premier League giants beat Manchester City in the 2021 Champions League final.

However, despite chipping in with 32 goals and 15 assists from 128 appearances for Chelsea, the 23-year-old's time at Stamford Bridge can only be described as mixed at best.

The Germany international is currently holding a spot down the centre of Graham Potter's attack, chipping in with nine strikes in the top flight and Champions League this campaign.

Nevertheless, with just over two years remaining on his contract, developments are likely to materialise regarding his future sooner rather than later.

Bayern remain long-term admirers of the ex-Bayer Leverkusen star, and their position has been strengthened by the recent appointment of former Chelsea head coach Thomas Tuchel.

While Havertz has reiterated his enjoyment of playing abroad, there is an acknowledgment that an eventual transfer to Bayern remains a possibility.

Speaking to BILD, Havertz said: "Bayern are generally a huge club that it's hard to say no to as a German player, but my personal goal has always been to play abroad at some point. In England or Spain.

"I had a very good relationship with him and am very grateful for everything. You never know what will happen in football. Everything can happen very quickly. Never say never."

Despite the faith placed in him by Potter, Chelsea's hierarchy may be open to considering offers for Havertz ahead of the 2023-24 campaign.

A recent report stated that they are generally against players entering the final two years of their contract, something which will apply to Havertz from July onwards.

Chelsea also need to boost their position with FFP at some point, it being revealed earlier this week that they made a £121m loss for last season. body check tags ::
