Chelsea failed in their bid to sign the highly-sought-after German youngster Karim Adeyemi in 2018, according to a report.
The forward is one of the most highly-rated youngsters across Europe, and thrusted himself further into the spotlight earlier this month when he scored 20 minutes into his debut for Germany against Armenia.
Nineteen-year-old Adeyemi currently plays his club football in Austria with champions Red Bull Salzburg, where has already scored six goals in just seven appearances in the Austrian Bundesliga so far this season.
However, before making the move to Salzburg in 2018, the youngster almost moved to current Champions League holders Chelsea instead, according to The Express.
The report states that in 2018, at the age of 16, Adeyemi was plying his trade for SpVgg Unterhaching, where he was flown to London for talks with Chelsea.
Despite being tempted by the move, the youngster decided against it as he wanted to prioritise his chances of first-team football instead, so the transfer never materialised.
However, in a recent interview, Adeyemi reiterated his desire of playing for a team that regularly competes for the Champions League trophy in the future.
