Chelsea are reportedly in talks to bring back striker Didier Drogba on loan.
The Ivory Coast international has issued a request with FIFA to secure permission to move to Stamford Bridge outside of the transfer window to gain match fitness for the Africa Cup of Nations, BBC Sport reports.
Drogba is currently plying his trade with Chinese club Shanghai Shenhua, who ended their domestic campaign earlier this month.
FIFA are said to be considering the application, which could see the forward rejoin the Blues in several weeks' time.
Meanwhile, Chelsea unveiled Rafael Benitez as their new manager earlier today after Roberto Di Matteo was relieved of his duties following a run of successive defeats.
