Chelsea 'interested in signing Stuttgart's Borna Sosa'

Stuttgart defender Borna Sosa emerges as a transfer target for Chelsea, according to a report.

Chelsea have reportedly identified Stuttgart defender Borna Sosa as a transfer target.

The 24-year-old has been in strong form for his Bundesliga club during the 2021-22 campaign, making 18 appearances in all competitions, contributing two goals and four assists in the process.

Sosa only signed a new long-term deal with Stuttgart in November 2020, having impressed since arriving from Croatian giants Dinamo Zagreb in July 2018.

However, there has recently been speculation surrounding the Croatia international's future, with a number of clubs, including Aston Villa and Inter Milan, believed to have been alerted to his form this season.

According to Sky Deutschland, Chelsea could move for Sosa during this summer's transfer window, with Stuttgart thought to be prepared to sanction a sale for a fee in the region of £25m.

The Croatian is primarily a left-back but has played the majority of this season as a left midfielder, and Blues head coach Thomas Tuchel is said to view him as the ideal player to operate in a 3-4-3 formation.
