Chelsea are reportedly keen to tie midfielder Mason Mount down to a new long-term contract.
The 23-year-old has been an important player for the Blues this season, scoring 12 goals and registering 15 assists in 50 appearances across all competitions.
With Chelsea still facing an uncertain future regarding Roman Abramovich's sale of the club, one report has suggested that the Blues are concerned that Mount could join either Liverpool or Manchester City in the near future.
Sanctions placed by the government on Abramovich are currently preventing the West Londoners from negotiating new contracts with first-team players.
According to ESPN, Chelsea are hoping to sit down with Mount's representatives as soon as possible once a proposed takeover is completed.
The focus has recently been on defensive trio Cesar Azpilicueta, Andreas Christensen and Antonio Rudiger, who are all out of contract in June, and it has already been confirmed that the latter will not be extending his stay at Stamford Bridge.
Meanwhile, Mount – who is believed to be earning around £70,000 per week – will see his current deal expire in June 2024. body check tags ::
