Chelsea have reportedly made an opening offer of £54m for Bayer Leverkusen forward Kai Havertz.
The Blues have prioritised a deal for the 21-year-old after already snapping up fellow attackers Hakim Ziyech and Timo Werner.
It was reported last week that Chelsea have been locked in talks with Leverkusen and, according to transfer pundit Ian McGarry, a bid has now been tabled.
Frank Lampard's side are said to be prepared to go as high as £54m with their offer, with £9m being paid in instalments once various add-ons are triggered.
McGarry also claims that technical and performance advisor Petr Cech has taken charge of talks with both Leverkusen and Havertz in the hope of swiftly agreeing terms.
Germany international Havertz scored and assisted a combined 18 goals in the Bundesliga last season.
