Chelsea and Newcastle United have reportedly been alerted to the availability of Real Madrid winger Eden Hazard ahead of the January transfer window.

Hazard has made five starts and four substitute outings in La Liga and the Champions League this season, a sign that he still has a role to play at the Bernabeu.

However, manager Carlo Ancelotti acknowledged earlier this week that other players are ahead of the Belgium international in the pecking order.

According to ESPN, a number of Premier League clubs, including Chelsea and Newcastle, have been asked whether they hold any interest in the playmaker.

The Blues have recently been linked with their former player, the suggestion being that they would be willing to spend £42m on his services.

On the back of the club's takeover, Newcastle are now regarded as another realistic option for Hazard, who may be open to a return to the Premier League. body check tags ::
