Chelsea reportedly begin contract talks with N'Golo Kante, whose existing deal is due to expire in the summer of 2023.

Chelsea have reportedly opened discussions with midfielder N'Golo Kante over a new deal at Stamford Bridge.

The 30-year-old has struggled to stay fit over the past couple of years and is now due to become a free agent in less than 18 months' time.

There have been suggestions that Kante's long-term future may not lie at Stamford Bridge, with Chelsea thought to be one of the leading clubs in the race for Monaco's Aurelien Tchouameni.

However, journalist Ekrem Konur claims that Chelsea are now planning a new deal for the France international, who has only started 12 Premier League games in the 2021-22 season.

The report adds that a number of clubs are keeping a close eye on the situation and will be prepared to table offers if Kante opts against extending his stay at Stamford Bridge, with Paris Saint-Germain believed to be one of them.

Kante has amassed two goals and two assists from 24 games this term and has won the Premier League, Champions League, Club World Cup, Europa League and FA Cup during his time at Chelsea. body check tags ::
