Chelsea have decided to recall both Kasey Palmer and Ike Ugbo at the start of the January transfer window.
Both players had been expected to remain at Huddersfield Town and Barnsley respectively for the remainder of the campaign, but the Blues have moved to bring the duo back to Stamford Bridge.
Midfielder Palmer had hoped to continue to make an impact at the John Smith's Stadium after helping the Terriers to promotion, but the 21-year-old has played just 45 minutes of Premier League football since the end of August.
Forward Ugbo has been a regular fixture in the Barnsley squad in the Championship, but the 19-year-old netted just once in seven starts and nine substitute outings.
Both players could go back out on loan before the end of the month.
