Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich has reportedly gone back on his plans to allow midfielder Frank Lampard to leave the club at the end of the season.
The England international is thought to have been informed that he could depart Stamford Bridge in the summer, with MLS side Los Angeles Galaxy and Premier League rivals Manchester United being linked to the 34-year-old.
It is understood that the club's Russian billionaire owner has orchestrated early 'positive' talks with Lampard over fresh terms, according to the Daily Mail.
While the details of the contract have yet to be thrashed out, reports have claimed that Abramovich has recognised the plea of the fans to keep Lampard, who has netted 10 goals in 17 appearances for the Blues this season.
