Chelsea 'unlikely to compete for Erling Braut Haaland in 2022'

Chelsea are reportedly likely to remain out of the race to sign Borussia Dortmund forward Erling Braut Haaland next summer.

Chelsea are reportedly unlikely to feature in the race to sign Borussia Dortmund forward Erling Braut Haaland next summer.

The Blues strengthened their forward line earlier in 2021, paying Inter Milan's £97.5m asking price to secure a reunion with Romelu Lukaku.

However, the European champions had first wanted to sign Haaland until they were fended off by Dortmund's £150m valuation.

Despite the 21-year-old allegedly being available for a lower fee next year, football.london suggests that Chelsea are unlikely to reignite their interest in the player.

The report suggests that the Premier League giants will instead focus on finding resolutions for issues which are likely to occur in defence and midfield.

Head coach Thomas Tuchel would also be under pressure to use Lukaku and Haaland in tandem, something which is unlikely to happen on a regular basis. body check tags ::
