Crystal Palace have reportedly identified a Chelsea defender as a potential replacement for in-demand star Marc Guehi.
The 24-year-old, who began his career at Chelsea, has developed into an important first-team player for the Eagles since joining the club three seasons ago, making 111 appearances across all competitions.
Guehi's impressive performances for Palace were rewarded with a call-up to the England squad for Euro 2024 earlier this summer and the centre-back was a standout performer as the Three Lions progressed to the final.
Palace's No.6 has since been linked with a host of top clubs in the Premier League and abroad, with Newcastle United believed to be leading he race for his signature at present.
A recent report claims that the Magpies are set to make an improved offer for Guehi, who is valued in excess of £60m, after having one bid rejected by the Eagles.
Palace considering Chalobah move if Guehi leaves
Should Palace agree to sell Guehi to Newcastle, The Telegraph claims that they will consider making a move for Chelsea defender Trevoh Chalobah.
The 25-year-old is said to be among a number of options Palace are seriously considering along with Wolfsburg's Maxence Lacroix, who has previously worked under Eagles boss Oliver Glasner.
Chalobah has been with Chelsea since the age of eight and the academy graduate has made a total of 80 first-team appearances in all competitions, although he only featured 17 times during an injury-hit 2023-24 campaign.
The versatile defender was left out of Chelsea's pre-season tour to the United States earlier this summer and is believed to have been made available for transfer, with the Blues thought to value him at around £25m.
Palace face competition for Chalobah signature?
Chalobah is not part of Chelsea's first-team plans going forward under new head coach Enzo Maresca and has recently been training with the club's development and Under-21 squad.
Palace are not the only club said to hold an interest in Chalobah, as The Telegraph claims that Aston Villa, Fulham and potentially Tottenham Hotspur may also swoop for the defender this summer.
Chalobah, who still has four years remaining on the Chelsea contract that he was handed less than two years ago, allegedly rejected to the chance to join Nottingham Forest on a permanent deal last year.
Palace have already made one centre-back signing this summer, recruiting Morocco international Chadi Riad from Barcelona for around £14m, with the 20-year-old set to compete with Joachim Andersen, Chris Richards and Rob Holding for regular starts. body check tags ::
