Chelsea goalkeeper Edouard Mendy is reportedly expected to leave the club this summer.

The Senegal international, who joined Chelsea from Rennes in 2020, spent his first two seasons at Stamford Bridge as the club's first-choice goalkeeper.

The 2022-23 campaign proved to be a difficult one for Mendy, who lost his place in the side to Kepa Arrizabalaga after Graham Potter replaced Thomas Tuchel as Chelsea boss.

Mendy also struggled with injury issues during the opening months of 2023, and as a result, he made just 12 competitive appearances all season.

There was a belief that Chelsea were in the market for a new number one, amid links with Inter Milan's Andre Onana and AC Milan's Mike Maignan.

However, a recent report claimed that new Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino is set to begin the 2023-24 campaign with Arrizabalaga as his new goalkeeper.

With the Spaniard set to stay at Stamford Bridge, journalist Fabrizio Romano is reporting that Mendy will be allowed to leave the club this summer.

Mendy signed with a new agent Fali Ramadani two months ago, seemingly with the expectation that he could be on the move.

The 31-year-old, who made 63 Ligue 1 appearances during his time with Reims and Rennes, could be set to return to the French top flight.

According to RMC Sport, Monaco have identified Mendy as a potential replacement for Alexander Nubel, who has returned to Bayern Munich following a loan spell.

Nice have also been linked with the Chelsea goalkeeper, with uncertainty surrounding the future of Kasper Schmeichel.

During his three-year stint as a Chelsea player, Mendy has kept 49 clean sheets in 105 appearances across all competitions.

Mendy, who has 29 caps for Senegal, has helped the Blues win the Champions League, FIFA Club World Cup and the UEFA Super Cup.
