Inter Milan are reportedly interested in extending Romelu Lukaku's loan move from Chelsea.
In his first spell with Inter, Lukaku played a key role in the club's title-winning campaign in 2021-22, scoring 24 goals in 36 league matches.
Lukaku's impressive performances earned him a move back to Chelsea, but his second spell with the Blues lasted just one season.
The Belgian international scored 15 goals in 44 appearances last term, but he struggled to adapt to Thomas Tuchel's system.
Lukaku was subsequently loaned back to Inter at the beginning of the current campaign, with the Italian club paying Chelsea €8m (£7.1m) plus €3m (£2.7m) in add-ons.
Since returning to the Nerazzurri, Lukaku has been hampered by injuries, which have prevented him from finding his best form.
In his 11 competitive appearances this season, Lukaku has scored two goals and provided one assist, but his underwhelming form has not deterred Inter.
According to Gazzetta dello Sport, Inter are keen to extend Lukaku's loan deal beyond the end of the current campaign.
The Italian giants are hoping to agree a deal for half of the amount they paid Chelsea for Lukaku's loan last summer.
From the player's side, Lukukau is also believed to be keen to remain with Inter, and has no plans to return to Stamford Bridge.
The report claims that a meeting has been scheduled for March for Inter and Chelsea to discuss a potential deal.
After spending over £600m over the last two transfer windows, Chelsea are looking to trim their squad in the summer.
They could allow several players to leave, including Lukaku, while they will also focus on recruiting a new central striker. body check tags ::
