Juventus to consider Mason Mount if Chelsea move for Federico Chiesa?

Juventus may reportedly give consideration to trying to sign Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount if the Blues move for Federico Chiesa.

Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount may allegedly emerge as a potential transfer option for Juventus if the Blues move for Federico Chiesa.

Mount is established as a key player in the Blues squad, contributing 32 goals and 37 assists from 181 appearances in all competitions.

However, as it stands, the academy graduate has just over 19 months remaining on his contract, and fresh terms will not be further negotiated until after the World Cup.

According to a report last week, the relevant parties are quietly optimistic that a renewal will be finalised in due course, keeping Mount at Stamford Bridge in the long term.

Nevertheless, according to Calciomercato, the 23-year-old's name could enter the conversation if Chelsea express an interest in Chiesa.

The playmaker has only recently returned from a serious knee injury having been sidelined since a fixture with Roma on January 9.

Chiesa has gone someway to proving his fitness with three substitute appearances for Juve, featuring for a total of 59 minutes, and also playing twice for Italy over the past week.

While the World Cup break prevents the 25-year-old from continuing to build some momentum, he now has extra time to work on his fitness before the resumption.

That will almost certainly come in the shirt of Juve who require the qualities of Chiesa to help keep them in the top four of the Serie A table after an indifferent start to the campaign.

However, the report claims that Chelsea head coach Graham Potter is an admirer of the player and would like to sign him during the next summer transfer window.

Unless he signs a renewal before that period, Chiesa will have just two years remaining on his contract, realistically leaving him open to offers.

Juventus allegedly have no intention of accepting less than €100m (£86.7m), a figure which Chelsea may have second thoughts over meeting due to their recent record-breaking financial outlay.

For that reason, the report indicates that Mount may come into consideration for Juventus if he has not penned a new deal at Chelsea by the summer. body check tags ::
