Fiorentina technical director Eduardo Macia has praised the abilities of Chelsea striker Fernando Torres.
The Viola are rumoured to have shown an interest in the Spaniard, who has endured a difficult time in West London since his £50m move from Liverpool two years ago.
"He is a symbol," Macia told Corriere dello Sport. "He is a player on a par with excellence, the one who plays only to win.
"He is a killer in the area and at Liverpool, with [Steven] Gerrard, they built a goal machine."
However, sports director Daniele Prade hinted that a move for the 29-year-old would not be viable due to his probable wage demands.
"If these big names are linked to Fiorentina, it means that we are considered a great team," Sky Sports News quotes him as saying.
"But some players right now are outside of the parameters of Italian football, especially in regard to wages."
Torres has scored seven goals in 32 appearances in the Premier League this season.
