AC Milan CEO Marco Fassone has revealed that his club have held talks with the agent of Chelsea forward Diego Costa this summer.
Costa scored 20 times in Chelsea's 2016-17 Premier League title-winning campaign, but the 28-year-old is said to have had a strained relationship with head coach Antonio Conte in the second half of the season.
Last month, Costa revealed that Conte had told him to leave Stamford Bridge this summer, and their relationship is said to be beyond repair following a recent leaked video of the centre-forward seemingly 'mocking' his manager.
Atletico Madrid have been strongly linked with their former striker, but Fassone has confirmed that Milan have also met with agent Jorge Mendes to discuss Costa.
"I would prefer to avoid talking about players from other teams; Diego Costa is a great player, but a Chelsea player," Fassone told Sky Sports News. "We went to see Jorge Mendes; there is a lot you can talk to him about. Costa is a great player but he is of Chelsea. That's all."
Backed by Chinese owners Rossoneri Sport Investment Lux, Milan have already signed Fabio Borini, Franck Kessie, Ricardo Rodriguez, Mateo Musacchio, Hakan Calhanoglu, Andrea Conti, Andre Silva, Leonardo Bonucci and Lucas Biglia in this summer's transfer window.
