Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has confirmed that Ashley Cole will be offered a new contract by the club.
The 32-year-old defender, who is due to be a free agent in the summer, has been replaced by Cesar Azpilicueta at left-back for the team's last seven games.
However, Mourinho insists that the England international is still an important part of his plans for the future at Stamford Bridge.
"Naturally with the evolution of the season, he will play in matches," the Portuguese told reporters.
"Can he recover or not 100% his position? I don't know. But he will always play and he will always be a good player. Naturally he will get his contract because he is a valuable player for us."
Chelsea conclude their successful Champions League group campaign on Wednesday when they host Steaua Bucuresti.
