Newcastle United are reportedly at the head of the queue for Christian Pulisic, with the Magpies hoping to sign the Chelsea attacker during the January transfer window.

There was a host of talk surrounding the American's future over the summer, with Manchester United among the clubs to be credited with an interest in his services.

Pulisic ultimately remained at Stamford Bridge past the summer deadline, but he has found it difficult to secure regular action this term despite making 11 appearances in all competitions.

The 24-year-old has only played 21 minutes of Champions League football this season, while he has started just once in the Premier League since Graham Potter's arrival as head coach.

According to TodoFichajes, Newcastle are expressing an interest in Pulisic ahead of the January window, and the forward has indicated that he would be prepared to make the move to St James' Park.

Eddie Howe's side could allegedly bid around £35m at the start of 2023, which Chelsea might accept, as the United States international will soon enter the final 18 months of his contract.

Blues head coach Potter recently said that Pulisic was "pushing for a start" and urged him to "be ready" during a busy period of the campaign.

"I am not saying I am right all the time, I am not, but somebody has got to make the call. With Christian, I would say he has been fantastic around the place, been really good with teammates, and contributed against Wolves," Potter told the Evening Standard.

"He is pushing for a place, pushing for a start. Things change quickly in football and he needs to be ready."

Meanwhile, reporter Simon Phillips told GiveMeSport earlier this month that Newcastle were close to signing Pulisic during the summer transfer window.

"I'm told, in the summer, Newcastle were a lot closer to signing Pulisic than Juventus. They wanted him on loan but, obviously, Chelsea weren't going to do that. They only wanted to sell him permanently if they were going to let him go," said Phillips.

Pulisic joined Chelsea in January 2019 off the back of scoring 19 goals and registering 26 assists in 127 appearances for Borussia Dortmund in all competitions.

The forward has played 126 times for Chelsea during his time at Stamford Bridge, scoring 26 goals and contributing 20 assists.

Newcastle, who are now one of the richest clubs in world football due to their recent takeover, have made an impressive start to the 2022-23 campaign, collecting 18 points from 11 matches, which has left them in sixth position in the Premier League table. body check tags ::
