Real Madrid are reportedly planning a second raid of Chelsea this summer, with N'Golo Kante joining Eden Hazard on their list of transfer targets.
Hazard has been heavily linked with a move to the Bernabeu in a deal worth more than £100m, having made it clear that playing for Madrid has been a lifelong ambition of his.
The Chelsea hierarchy are understood to be resigned to losing their talisman, but the Sunday Express reports that they could also face a battle to keep hold of Kante.
Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane has identified his compatriot as an ideal candidate to bolster his midfield options following a hugely disappointing campaign both domestically and in Europe.
Kante has been played in a more advanced position by Maurizio Sarri this season with Jorginho favoured in his usual role, but Zidane plans to restore the France international to defensive midfield in the Spanish capital.
However, Chelsea are reluctant to lose two of their most important players in the same transfer window and could demand an even bigger fee than Hazard's before they entertain offers for Kante.
Any chance of a deal going through could also depend on whether Chelsea have their transfer ban overturned, with the Blues unable to sign a replacement as things stand.
