Norwich City and Southampton have reportedly identified Chelsea youngster Marc Guehi as a potential addition in January.
With the Canaries and the Saints having struggled at the back this season, they are expected to strengthen in defence at the midway point of the campaign.
Despite his lack of first-team experience, The Sun says that Guehi could be in line to make a temporary move to Carrow Road or St Mary's.
While they have their own issues when it comes to keeping clean sheets, Chelsea are said to welcome the chance for the 19-year-old to continue his development elsewhere until the summer.
Bristol City, Swansea City and Nottingham Forest are also allegedly monitoring the situation as they look to boost their hopes of promotion to the top flight.
The England Under-21 international started against Grimsby Town and Manchester United in the EFL Cup earlier this season.
