Chelsea have reportedly seen an official bid for Edinson Cavani rejected by Paris Saint-Germain.
New Blues boss Maurizio Sarri is understood to be in the market for a centre-forward this summer as a replacement for Alvaro Morata, who scored just 15 goals in 48 appearances during his debut season last term.
Cavani, meanwhile, has been linked with a move away from the Parc des Princes following reports of a fallout with PSG's star player Neymar after his world-record arrival last summer.
CulturePSG claims that Chelsea have now made an approach for the 31-year-old, only to see it rejected outright by the French champions, who have no intention of selling Cavani.
The Uruguay international became PSG's leading all-time scorer in January when he surpassed Zlatan Ibrahimovic's mark and to date has netted 170 times in 245 appearances for the club.
Chelsea have also been linked with a move for Juventus striker Gonzalo Higuain before the end of the transfer window on August 9.
