Real Madrid considering move for Chelsea forward Kai Havertz?

Real Madrid are allegedly contemplating whether to make an approach for Chelsea forward Kai Havertz this summer.

Real Madrid have reportedly identified Chelsea forward Kai Havertz as a potential summer transfer target.

Los Blancos had been in a position where they had hoped, and expected in the latter case, that Marco Asensio and Karim Benzema would remain at the club for 2023-24.

However, as well as Asensio said to be on the brink of signing for Paris Saint-Germain on a free transfer, reports suggest that Benzema is ready to accept a lucrative offer to move to Saudi Arabia.

While neither deal has been confirmed, the alleged developments have left Real in a position where they must enter the market for at least one replacement.

With regards to Benzema, Real must find an alternative that fits the mould of the legendary Frenchman, but a player that is also affordable at a time when they expect to sign Jude Bellingham for in excess of £100m.

Although Harry Kane's name has naturally been linked, it is unclear whether Real would be prepared to pay at least £80m for a player who could become a free agent in 2024.

According to Relevo, the La Liga giants remain admirers of Havertz and may be prepared to take advantage of the situation at Chelsea.

The Blues, who will not participate in Europe next season, must make player sales as soon as soon if they are to fulfil the necessary FFP criteria, preferably by June 30.

Havertz did not feature on a possible list of 15 players that could leave this summer when a report emerged earlier this week, yet it is now claimed that new head coach Mauricio Pochettino would be open to a sale.

Despite scoring the winning goal in the 2021 Champions League final, Havertz has endured a polarizing three-year stint with Chelsea, contributing 32 goals and 15 assists from 139 appearances.

The Germany international has largely featured as a central forward in his time in West London, but just 19 goals have been netted in the Premier League.

Real would not necessarily view the 23-year-old as a straight replacement for Benzema, with club officials seemingly attracted to his versatility across the frontline.

Havertz is about to enter the final two years of his contract, a scenario where the Chelsea board will likely look to sell or extend the player's terms. body check tags ::
