Supposed incoming Chelsea manager Antonio Conte has reportedly decided to retain the services of John Terry.
Captain Terry revealed earlier this year that he was to leave Stamford Bridge at the end of the season, with no new contract offer on the table.
However, if, as expected, Conte takes charge of the West Londoners, one of his first aims is to tie Terry down to a 12-month extension, according to The People.
The report adds that Conte's liking for playing with three centre-backs has worked in 35-year-old Terry's favour.
The current Italy head coach has been tipped to begin work with Chelsea following the conclusion of this summer's European Championships in France.
