Chelsea made a move for Galatasaray midfielder Wesley Sneijder at the start of the season, the Turkish club has revealed.
The 30-year-old, who has frequently been a linked with a move to Manchester United, was the subject of interest from Italian side Juventus in January, but remained at Hamza Hamzaoglu's side.
However, Galatasaray president Duygun Yarsuvat has now claimed that Chelsea are the only club that the Dutch international would have considered joining.
"Chelsea made an offer for Wesley Sneijder at the start of the season," Yarsuvat told GS TV.
"He could have been beside Jose Mourinho, that is the only club he would have joined. But he's happy at Galatasaray."
Sneijder previously played under Mourinho at Inter Milan, where the pair won the Champions League in 2010.
