Real Madrid midfielder Xabi Alonso has reportedly emerged as a target for Chelsea.
New Blues manager Jose Mourinho has earmarked his former player to make a return to the Premier League and the club will move for the Spaniard, according to The Telegraph.
Alonso spent five years at Liverpool from 2004 to 2009 and played under Mourinho at Madrid from 2010 until the end of last season.
The 31-year-old will miss this month's Confederations Cup after having groin surgery in Germany last week, but is said to be confident of being fit for the new season.
