Chelsea will reportedly move for Newcastle United midfielder Cheick Tiote in the January transfer window.
The Blues currently lead the way in the Premier League after an impressive start to the season, but it is understood that Roberto Di Matteo is still on the lookout for players.
According to The Express, the Chelsea boss has identified the Ivorian as his main transfer target to provide cover in the middle of midfield.
John Obi Mikel will depart for the Africa Cup of Nations in January and although Tiote is also likely to represent his country, Di Matteo is keen to have the 26-year-old on board for the remainder of the season.
Tiote joined Newcastle from Twente in 2010.
