Chelsea are reportedly hoping to unveil Antonio Rudiger as their first big signing of the summer transfer window within the next few days.
The 24-year-old is on the brink of joining after an agreement was reached with Roma over a £34m sale, leaving just personal terms to be thrashed out between the player and club.
According to Sky Sports News those talks are now at an advanced stage, with Chelsea - yet to truly get off the mark so far this summer - expected to make a formal announcement early next week.
Willy Caballero is the highest profile of the Premier League champions' new recruits, while Billy Gilmour and Ethan Ampadu have also joined and will go straight into the youth-team ranks.
Rudiger featured 40 times for Roma in all competitions last season and was also a part of Germany's successful Confederations Cup squad.
