Chelsea defender Antonio Rudiger reportedly rejected a transfer to Tottenham Hotspur amid concerns over a backlash from supporters.
The Blues were open to parting ways with the Germany international on transfer deadline day as they looked to reduce their wage bill.
However, the 27-year-old ultimately decided to remain at Stamford Bridge, preferring to fight for his place over joining either Spurs, AC Milan or Paris Saint-Germain.
According to The Athletic, Rudiger opted against a switch across England's capital in order to retain a solid relationship with Chelsea's fans.
The report claims that the centre-back was wary that he would be strongly criticised by the fanbase at the West Londoners if he moved to one of their fierce rivals.
Rudiger is said to have held talks with Spurs boss Jose Mourinho before backing out of the transfer.
