Chelsea's co-owners are reportedly in the process of completing a transfer that could benefit them in the future.
Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital have been proactive with their unique strategy in the market since their arrival in May 2022, and there have been few signs that it will slow down anytime soon.
Furthermore, BlueCo - headed by the aforementioned Boehly and Clearlake, as well as Mark Walter and Hansjorg Wyss - have also purchased French club Strasbourg.
Since that transaction, Chelsea youngster Angelo Gabriel - for the season - and Andrey Santos from January onwards have enjoyed successful stints in Ligue 1.
While those particular deals were loans, it is now being alleged that Boehly and co are hoping to wrap up a signing for Strasbourg that could have implications for Chelsea in the future.
Pedro Lima 'on his way to Strasbourg'
According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Sport Recife prospect Pedro Lima will soon be making the transfer to Patrick Vieira's side.
Romano suggests that a deal could be finalised over the coming days with an agreement on personal terms having already been reached.
Although the 17-year-old is seemingly in line to move to Strasbourg on a permanent basis, it is said that a transfer to Chelsea could materialise in the future.
Who is Pedro Lima?
As with many of the Brazilian prospects that Chelsea have been linked with in recent weeks, Lima has already racked up plenty of minutes in senior football.
The right-sided player, who can play at full-back or as a wing-back, has contributed two goals and two assists from his 25 appearances in all competitions.
Seven of those outings have come in the second tier of Brazilian football, although as recently as last month, Lima played the full 90 minutes in a 1-0 win over top-flight side Atletico Mineiro in the Copa do Brasil.
While Chelsea could have theoretically signed Lima and loaned him to Strasbourg, that would hinder them when it comes to using their allotted foreign loans during the summer transfer window.
Chelsea will almost certainly loan at least one player to Strasbourg for 2024-25, potentially Santos given how he performed during the latter stages of the campaign. body check tags ::
