Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly in discussions with Ajax over a potential deal for Netherlands international Jurrien Timber during the January transfer window.

The 20-year-old, who made three appearances for his country at Euro 2020, has featured on 36 occasions for Ajax in all competitions, including five outings this term.

A recent report claimed that both Chelsea and Spurs were interested in the centre-back, while Paris Saint-Germain, Lyon, Monaco, Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig are also monitoring developments.

According to todofichajes, Tottenham have now started talks with Ajax over the possibility of bringing Timber to North London at the start of 2022.

The report claims that an offer in the region of €20m (£17m) could be enough to convince the Dutch giants to sell, despite the fact that the defender has a contract in Amsterdam until June 2024.

Timber has played every minute of Ajax's 2021-22 Eredivisie campaign to date and helped his side record a 2-0 victory over PEC Zwolle on Saturday. body check tags ::
