Head coach Thomas Tuchel has acknowledged that Andreas Christensen remaining at Chelsea past the end of the season is "in doubt".
Numerous reports this week have claimed that Christensen, who is out of contract in the summer, is on the verge of signing a contract with Barcelona.
Tuchel has previously been vocal about wanting to retain the services of the centre-back, as well as encouraging the Denmark international to make a final decision on his future.
However, with the 25-year-old seemingly ready to end his time at Stamford Bridge, Tuchel has admitted that things have not panned out how Chelsea and himself had hoped.
Speaking to reporters at a press conference, Tuchel said: "It's in doubt. We hear the rumours. The situation with Andreas is, for many weeks, clear and we are not happy about it because we think that it is best for him to stay. We rely heavily on him. He did not sign yet so you cannot not communicate.
"This is a signal to us so we have to consider it a possibility that he leaves us. Will we like it? No. Will we live with it? Yes. It's nothing personal, it never should be in this situation, but I have no further information."
Christensen has remained a key member of Tuchel's squad this season, making a total of 25 appearances in all competitions. body check tags ::
