RB Leipzig forward Timo Werner has claimed that he must improve in order to justify being linked with Liverpool.
On Wednesday night, Werner took his tally for the season to 26 goals as his penalty proved to be the difference against Tottenham Hotspur in the Champions League.
After the match, the Germany international was questioned regarding persistent speculation regarding a summer switch to Liverpool, who are said to be willing to meet his £51m release clause.
Rather than play down the talk, the 23-year-old revealed that being associated with such a high-profile transfer had made him "proud".
Speaking to Viasport, Werner said: "I know Liverpool is the best team in the moment in the world. When you're linked with that team it makes me very proud.
"But in case of that, it's a pleasure but I know at Liverpool there are a lot of good players and I know I have to improve myself to learn much more things to get on this level to play there."
Chelsea and Bayern Munich have also been linked with a move for the attacker.
