Wolverhampton Wanderers are in contact with Marseille over a last-minute deal for versatile Frenchman Boubacar Kamara, according to a report.

The 21-year-old has established himself as a key player under Jorge Sampaoli at the Orange Velodrome, but his deal with the Ligue 1 side will expire at the end of this season.

Kamara could therefore be sold in the next few hours before Marseille watch him walk away for free in the summer of 2022, and he was previously linked with moves to Chelsea and Newcastle United.

Now, The Athletic claims that Wolves are hoping to agree a deadline day deal for Kamara after ending their pursuit of Lille midfielder Renato Sanches.

The report adds that Wolves are seeking a permanent move rather than a loan deal, and Bruno Lage's men have also tabled a bid for an unnamed striker.

Kamara has played every minute of Marseille's three Ligue 1 games so far this term and has registered three goals and five assists in 125 games for the club in total.
