Chesterfield have confirmed the appointment of ex-Wigan Athletic boss Gary Caldwell as their new manager on a one-year rolling contract.
The 34-year-old takes over with the club 22nd in the League One table and replaces Danny Wilson, who was sacked last week following a run of just six wins in 26 league games.
Caldwell led the Latics to the League One title in 2015-16 before being sacked last October with the club 23rd in the Championship.
"I'm a better manager for the 18 months I had at Wigan," Caldwell told reporters at a press conference this afternoon. "I have to make sure we win games in the short term, and in the long term I want to win promotion."
Caldwell will take charge of the side for the first time on Saturday when they welcome AFC Wimbledon to the Proact Stadium.
