Chicago Fire have announced that they have signed Lyon winger Xherdan Shaqiri on a three-year contract.
The 30-year-old only departed Liverpool for the French side in the summer, with 13 starts and three substitute appearances being made since the transfer.
However, it was revealed on Wednesday that the Switzerland international had made the switch to the MLS, reuniting with sporting director Georg Heitz who he worked with during his early days at Basel.
Heitz said: "We're extremely pleased to formally welcome Xherdan Shaqiri to the Fire. Xherdan is a game-changing player and someone who will bring joy to our supporters and the city of Chicago.
"As one of the most accomplished Swiss athletes of his generation, Xherdan joins us at a very important time for the club and fully believes in what we are aiming to accomplish. We look forward to welcoming him and his family to Chicago very soon."
Chicago have allegedly paid in the region of £5.5m for Shaqiri.
