Serie B side Pescara stunned AC Chievo Verona in the Coppa Italia, beating their top-flight opponents 1-0 this evening.
The visitors came close to opening the scoring inside the opening five minutes when Bostjan Cesar headed just wide from a corner.
Gianluca Caprari came close at the other end for Pescara, but Francesco Bardi tipped the ball behind to deny the defender.
The hosts did manage to break the deadlock shortly before half time when Riccardo Maniero fired the ball in from close range.
The Serie B side thought that they had doubled their advantage just before the whistle when Flavio Lazzari found the back of the net, but his effort was ruled out for offside.
Chances were at a premium throughout the second half, with Chievo pushing for an equaliser, while the hosts worked to protect their lead.
Thomas Mangani and Alberto Paloschi both had half-chances for the visitors, but Pescara cleared the threat to secure their place in the next round.
