Italian champions Juventus held off a late fightback to claim a 2-1 victory from their trip to Chievo in Serie A this afternoon.
The visitors started the brighter of the two teams and went on to break the deadlock with 10 minutes on the clock.
Arturo Vidal played in Alessandro Matri, who in turn found the bottom corner of the net from inside the area.
Juve continued to dominate proceedings but it wasn't until the 42nd minute that they doubled their advantage.
Stephan Lichtsteiner was the scorer, sending the ball into the net with his left foot following a cross from Sebastian Giovinco.
The home side came out after the restart with a greater attacking impetus and managed to reduce arrears with 52 minutes played thanks to Cyril Thereau, who turned the ball in from close range.
That prompted a large number of attacks from Chievo, but they were unable to find an equalising goal.
Their best chance fell to Isaac Cofie just after the hour mark, but he failed to find the target from close range.
