A statement on Colchester United's official website has confirmed that the League One outfit have released Ben Coker from his contract.
The 22-year-old defender joined the club from Bury Town in 2010, but has struggled to hold down a regular first-team spot at the U's this season.
"Ben had found his first-team opportunities limited under boss Joe Dunne and his contract was cancelled by mutual consent on Friday afternoon," the statement read.
"We wish him all the best with his future football career and thank him for his efforts while at Colchester United."
It is understood that a number of League Two clubs are monitoring Coker's availability.
