David Fox has revealed that he is close to signing a contract extension with Colchester United.
The 31-year-old's current short-term deal with the League One outfit is due to expire next week.
However, the midfielder has confirmed that he is keen to extend his stay at the Community Stadium beyond the upcoming FA Cup tie against Cardiff City.
"I hope to stay longer. I'm not sure of the exact situation at the minute, but it will probably sort itself out during the week," he told the Green Un.
"I'm sure we will get it all done then. Cardiff is the last game of my current deal, so hopefully something can be sorted out after that. I'm enjoying playing football here, and I'm enjoying the responsibility."
Fox started his career with Manchester United, before having spells with the likes of Blackpool and Norwich City.
