Congo DR captain Youssouf Mulumbu has said that his side deserved three points against Zambia after they were held to a 1-1 draw in Group B of the Africa Cup of Nations.
Mulumbu's side were able to salvage a point thanks to Yannick Bolasie's second-half equaliser, after Given Singuluma had originally handed the Copper Bullets a lead in the first period.
"We deserved to have won this game because we were the better team today, but we missed many chances and so did not score more than a goal," Mulumbu told reporters after the match.
"We showed fear at the beginning and did not react quickly when we went behind so early in the game.
"But we showed some good things in the second half after the coach gave us a very good pep talk at half-time."
Congo are next in action when they face Cape Verde on Thursday.
