League One outfit Crawley Town have dismissed claims that they are on the verge of signing ex-Sheffield United striker Ched Evans.
Professional Footballers Association chief executive Gordon Taylor told BBC Sport that an unnamed third tier club would discuss the former Welsh international in a press conference on Monday.
Discussion among Red Devils fans had suggested that the 26-year-old could potentially be moving to the Checkatrade.com Stadium, as caretaker manager Dean Saunders is the former assistant manager of Wales.
According to The Crawley Observer, however, sources at the West Sussex outfit confirmed that the club concerned is "definitely not Crawley Town".
Evans served part of a five-year prison sentence after being found guilty of raping a 19-year-old woman in 2011.
