Crewe Alexandra boss Steve Davis is among the nominees for October's Manager of the Month award in League One.

Despite a difficult start to the new season, Davis guided the Railwaymen to three wins out of five last month to boost their chances of getting out of the relegation zone.

At the other end of the table, Preston North End's Simon Grayson has earned a place on the shortlist after five victories in a row helped the Lilywhites put themselves firmly in playoff contention.

Notts County boss Shaun Derry is nominated once again as a perfect month saw the high-flying Magpies keep pace with the top six.

Completing the quartet is Oldham Athletic's Lee Johnson, who oversaw three wins and two draws from the Magpies' five matches.
